Worthing Ice Rink returns to Steyne Gardens on Saturday 7 November 2026, with permission now granted to 2033. Prices and session times are not out yet.
Worthing Ice Rink is coming back to Steyne Gardens on Saturday 7 November 2026. The rink’s own website, which is otherwise a holding page, now reads: “COMING SOON! We look forward to welcoming you back to Steyne Gardens from the 7th of November, 2026.”
The quick answer
- Opens Saturday 7 November 2026 at the northern end of Steyne Gardens, according to the rink’s website.
- Ticket prices, session times and the closing date are not published yet. The rink’s site has no booking page up as at 5 October.
- It has planning permission for this winter and the six after it. Worthing’s planning committee approved it unanimously on 12 August 2026.
- Parking: the council’s report expects visitors to use the town-centre car parks; there is no rink car park.
Updated 5 October: no trains run between Brighton and Worthing on opening weekend, 7 and 8 November; buses replace them. Prices are still unpublished.
We will add prices and session times when the rink publishes them. Questions before then go to info@worthingicerink.com, the address on its holding page.
Is the ice rink on this year?
Yes. Two things confirm it. First, the operator’s own site gives the 7 November opening date (Worthing Ice Rink). Second, the permission it needed is in place. The previous permission, granted in November 2019, covered the rink “at the same time each year until 2026”. A fresh application, AWDM/0622/26, came before Worthing Planning Committee on 12 August 2026, and councillors approved it unanimously (Worthing Planning Committee minutes, 12 August 2026).
The new permission runs from the 2026/27 winter to 2032/33. The conditions say the rink may operate “for a period of not more than 110 days at a time within the months of November to February inclusive”, and must be cleared and the land restored by 15 March each year (officer’s report, AWDM/0622/26).
The rink has not published a closing date. The 110-day limit means the season cannot run past the end of February.
What it is
The planning report describes a real ice rink, 26 metres by 14 metres, inside a marquee 40 metres long and 15 metres wide that also holds a cafe. It goes up at the northern end of Steyne Gardens, the green between the town centre and the seafront. The council is the landowner, which is why the application went to committee.
Letters supporting the application praised the skating classes, and said the rink draws people from outside Worthing and is used by disabled skaters. Two objectors complained about the state of the grass after the rink comes down. The officer’s report says the grass was not restored this year because Hemiko was using Steyne Gardens to build the next stage of the heat network, and the restoration condition has been applied again.
At the committee meeting, the rink’s director said they were in talks with Worthing Town Centre BID about a craft fair running alongside the rink. Nothing has been announced yet.

Getting there and parking
There is no parking at the rink. The highway authority’s comments in the planning report say all trips to the rink “will be made on foot”, using the surrounding town-centre car parks. Worthing station is about a 15-minute walk, and there are bike racks in Warwick Street and South Street.
On opening weekend, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, all lines between Brighton and Worthing are closed for engineering work. Buses replace trains between Brighton and Worthing and on to Littlehampton, and paper tickets are accepted on Brighton & Hove bus routes 1, 2, 6, 7, 46 and 49 (National Rail).
The nearest council multi-storeys are High Street and Buckingham Road. Both charge until 10pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and both are free from 10pm to 6am. Current tariffs are on our parking in Worthing page. When the rink is built and taken down, big lorries use the northern part of Steyne Gardens at off-peak times. Watch Worthing roadworks and travel for anything that affects the roads around it.
The rink opens two days after the free fireworks off the end of the pier on Thursday 5 November (our fireworks page).
